Are you wearing a mask? This was the subject discussed at the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) Nelspruit’s monthly networking session at 107 Ehmke Street on August 26.

The speaker for the day was Beverley Combrinck of Beverly B Therapy Counselling. She gave a presentation on how people wear masks to make it through life.

It was a fun morning full of love and art therapy. She urged the members each to discover the woman they are and who they want to become, and showed them how to put masks aside.

“As people we sometimes wear a mask to make it through the day, because various things we went through in life, whether it be divorce, loss or change. I have made changes in my life that took a lot out of me. For example, I was in a job that I did not enjoy any longer, so I was unhappy. I decided to change my life to do something that makes me happy.

“There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us, it is in all of us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others.”

After the first session, the SACBW also handed over the contributions raised during its Friendship in a Handbag initiative to GRIP.
